NOVEMBER 9th: Tufting Workshop

GPS will usually take you to our smaller parking lot off of 29th, but there are two parking lots, please park in the INDUSTRIAL STREET parking lot. Come up the blue stairs to find my studio #330.

Workshop Overview:

During this 5 hour workshop, you will learn all the needed skills for machine tufting and leave the class with a finished 15" x 15" tufted rug. Carving and Finishing techniques will be demonstrated and you will be able to experiment with the tools if you have time. What we will cover:

- Material overview
- Tufting demonstration
- Open Studio time with tufting guidance
- Applying adhesive to your rug
- Backing techniques
- Carving techniques

Tools/Materials provided for duration of workshop:

• cut pile tufting gun
• tufting frame
• assorted yarns
• tufting cloth
• rug adhesive
• backing fabric
• carving tools
• yarn winder
• rulers, marking pens, scissors

What you should bring:

• Your design or an idea ready to freehand sketch on fabric. Email feliciajmurray@gmail.com a photo of your design at least 3 days before your class and I will have your design projected and ready to go!
• I have plenty of yarn available to use in a variety of colors, but if you are wanting very specific colors, you can bring your own or email me ahead of time to see what I have available.
• In the summer, please wear lightweight clothing and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated!

Light snacks and drinks will be available during the workshop. I have a microwave available for heating up any packed food. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated! If you have long hair, please tie it up for the duration of the workshop. Please let me know ahead of time if you are not comfortable with being photographed during the workshop.

My tufting guns are about 4lb each and require hand/arm motion and standing for extended periods of time. My studio is on the 3rd floor of the building and there is no elevator available.

This workshop is for age 18+ unless you are signed up with a parent/guardian.

Cancellation Policy:

Please notify by email if you need to cancel your workshop. If you are able to find someone to replace your spot, you will receive a full refund.

Less than 20 days before workshop: $100 will be refunded
7 days before workshop: non refundable.
If I have to cancel the workshop for any reason due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued.
